The Kelsey House
Bed & Breakfast
2 Payne's Point
Branford, CT  06405

When you arrive at The Kelsey House, you will truly feel your stress drift away. As you walk up on to our large wrap around, covered porch perched on a rocky bluff overlooking the bay, with its breathtaking waterfront panoramas, you will feel like you are actually "on vacation”.. Enjoy the spectacular coastal water vistas as you relax in a comfy rocker and watch the world go by.

Sit and watch the tide ebb and flow. Take a moment to appreciate the fresh, invigorating, salt air making you feel as if you are actually on the water, as you are just steps away.

Awake each morning as the sun rises from the bay. Let the smell of salt air draw you out to the front porch with fabulous bay views. Take advantage of an early morning cup of coffee or tea on the porch or a walk on the grounds, before sitting down to a delicious, homemade breakfast.
At the end of the day, sleep soundly in the wonderful sea air, comforted by the gentle murmur of the water just outside your window lulling you to sleep as the moon rises over the bay.

The essence of tranquility!
One of our guests summed it up perfectly with her blog. Please enjoy her thoughts on The Kelsey House's ambiance:

We are also a perfect setting for bird watching where we always have a telescope up and ready. This is a premier location for the many rare and unusual birds spotted during the seasonal migrations, as well as the many interesting native breeds to be seen here year round.

A five minute walk brings you to a lovely association beach on Short Beach Bay, where you can enjoy the beach, have a swim, and see the Yale University sailing team competing in a regatta or out for a practice sail.

Enjoy home baked goodies made fresh from scratch every day along with a complimentary refreshing beverage, upon your arrival. Relax in the front porch rocking chairs or retire to your comfortable guestroom to plan your next day's activities. We have an assortment of area maps, restaurant menus and information on various nearby activities and must sees!

We are an ideal location for travelers along Interstate 95, heading up to the Cape and points east or down to NYC and beyond, as well as for couples planning that perfect romantic getaway, a wedding night, or a relaxing weekend escape from the kids! The Kelsey House is an idyllic location for elopements, proposals, anniversaries, and honeymoons as well as for business travelers and visitors to the many universities and colleges in the immediate area.

We are conveniently located on the shoreline of Long Island Sound with only a 7 mile drive to Yale and downtown New Haven, and 75 miles from New York. Only a short driving distance brings you to the many opportunities that exist for leisure activities, from browsing antique shops, hiking on the local nature preserve walks, swimming at the local beaches, boat tours, and shopping at the outlet malls. Maybe you’d like to take in a show at the various theaters close by, peruse Yale’s museums, or enjoy our many local dining choices from walk-in casual to the exceptional fine dining. Mystic Seaport and the casinos are only an hour away and there are many charming New England towns with their picturesque village greens, quaint shops and scenic roads to investigate along the way. Or just reading, relaxing, and enjoying the tranquility and scenery of coastal southern New England!
