Welcome!
When you arrive at The Kelsey House, you will truly leave your stress at the door.  After just a minute on the front porch, watching the world go by at a leisurely pace, you will know that you are actually "on vacation”.  Enjoy the spectacular coastal water views from the large, wrap-around, covered porch.  Relax in a comfy rocker and watch the tide come and go, you will feel like you are actually on the water, as you are just steps away.  This is the perfect setting for relaxing and bird watching.  Wake each morning as the sun rises from the bay, with the smell of salt air and our delicious homemade breakfast to draw you out to the gorgeous front porch with the fabulous bay views.  Take advantage of early morning coffee on the porch before sitting down to a full hearty breakfast.  The essence of tranquility!

One of our guests summed it up perfectly with her blog.  Please enjoy her thoughts on The Kelsey House's ambiance:   http://randomactsofwriting.wordpress.com/2011/03/01/backyard-respite/

There is always a telescope up and ready for bird watching.  This is a premier location for the many rare and unusual birds spotted during the spring and fall migrations, as well as the many interesting native breeds to be seen year round. This serene and secluded point, with views all around, will lull you into complete relaxation.  A five minute walk brings you to a lovely association beach on Short Beach Bay, and where you can enjoy the beach, have a swim, and see the Yale University sailing team competing in a regatta or out for a practice sail.  In the charming little village of Short Beach there is also a restaurant within walking distance.

A complimentary beverage is available in the early evening, just in time for watching the spectacular sunsets or before a night on the town.  At night, the gently lapping water will lull you to sleep while you watch the moon rise over the bay.
We are a perfect location for couples, business travelers or for visitors to the many universities and colleges in the immediate area.

It is only a 10 minute drive to Yale and downtown New Haven, 75 miles from New York and we are within a short driving distance to outlet malls, antique shops, town beaches, theaters, museums and fine dining.  Many opportunities exist for leisure activities, from browsing antique shops, hiking on the local nature preserve walks, swimming at the local beaches, boat tours, and shopping or just reading, relaxing, and enjoying the tranquility and scenery of coastal southern New England!  Mystic Seaport and the casinos are only an hour away and there are many charming New England towns with their picturesque village greens, quaint shops and scenic roads to investigate along the way.
